A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Het familiebedrijf Cantina Tinazzi gaat terug tot 1968 toen het wijnhuis in Cavaion Veronese werd opgericht. In 1984 exporteerden de Tinazzi's hun wijnen al naar het buitenland en in 1986 kochten ze het familielandgoed Tenuta Valleselle in Bardolino. In de afgelopen jaren is de familie blijven uitbreiden en hebben ze landgoederen in andere Italiaanse regio's aangekocht, waaronder Feudro Croce in Puglia en Poderi Campopian in Sant'Ambrogio Di Valpolicella.

    Opera No. 3 is een donker en knap rood, gemaakt in de typische Tinazzi stijl met veel intens zwart fruit gepeperd met hints van zoete kruiden, donkere chocolade en bittere drop. De wijn is samengesteld uit Corvina, Primitivo en Nero d'Avola druiven die voorzichtig worden geperst en ontsteeld vóór de vinificatie. Het fruit wordt vervolgens gedurende 10-15 dagen gemacereerd en gefermenteerd alvorens te rijpen in eikenhouten vaten.

    Het resultaat is een gemakkelijk drinkbare, fruitige rode wijn die opent met rijke cassis, zwarte kersen en pruimen, samen met hints van sigarendooskruiden en houtrook. De eerste slok onthult een royale volle body en stevige tannines samen met een soepele textuur en lange afdronk. Heerlijk om te drinken bij stevige rode vleesgerechten zoals biefstuk, rundvleesstoofpotten of wild en bij pastagerechten op basis van tomaten.
