Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Vega Sicilia is een van Spanjes beroemdste wijnhuizen dankzij hun baanbrekende werk in de Ribera del Duero. De eigenaren van Vega Sicilia, de familie Álvarez, kochten Bodegas Pintia in 1996 en hebben een visionaire rol gespeeld bij het revitaliseren van de D.O Toro appellatie. De regio vertoont enige gelijkenis met Ribera del Duero met hete, droge zomers, hoewel de omstandigheden hier harder kunnen zijn en het terroir wordt gekenmerkt door goed drainerende kiezelbodems.

    Deze prachtige Spaanse rode wijn wordt gemaakt van topkwaliteit Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) fruit uit San Román de Hornija, waar de wijnstokken gemiddeld 40 jaar oud zijn. De druiven worden met de hand geoogst en bij aankomst in de wijnmakerij gekoeld om de zuurgraad en de aroma's te behouden. Na de vinificatie wordt de jonge wijn gedurende 12 maanden gerijpt in 70% Franse en 30% Amerikaanse eiken vaten alvorens te worden gebotteld.

    De neus opent met hints van gedroogde viooltjes en intense aroma's van donkere kersen en pruimen die uit het glas lijken te barsten. In de mond is er een perfecte balans tussen kracht en elegantie met krachtige tannines en een stevige structuur, harmonieus aangevuld met zachte frisheid en rijke geplette bessen smaken. Complex en gespierd, is dit een geweldige wijn om nog ongeveer tien jaar te bewaren, hoewel hij nu ook kan worden gedronken naast stevige rode vleesgerechten.
