    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Vina Robles, gelegen in Californië, in de Paso Robles wijnregio, is algemeen bekend om hun Cabernet Sauvignon en Petite Sirah, maar ze produceren ook een breed scala aan toegankelijke en expressieve wijnen in kleine hoeveelheden. Het bedrijf, eigendom van twee Zwitserse families, bezit en bewerkt zes wijngaarden in vijf subdistricten van de regio. Wijnmaker Kevin Willenborg hanteert een filosofie van minimale interventie in de wijngaard en in de kelder, waarbij traditionele wijnbereidingsmethoden worden toegepast met gebruikmaking van moderne technologieën.

    Vina Robles Cabernet Sauvignon wordt voornamelijk geproduceerd met Cabernet Sauvignon druiven, met een kleine toevoeging van Petit Verdot, beide verbouwd op het landgoed. De afgewerkte wijn wordt vervolgens 20 maanden gerijpt in een combinatie van Frans en Amerikaans eikenhout.

    Het is een klassevolle wijn, rijk en weelderig maar zeer evenwichtig, die doet denken aan de warmte en de zon van Californië. In het glas toont hij een diepe en dichte kleur. De neus onthult krachtige aroma's van donker fruit, cacao, viooltjes, koffie en geroosterd eikenhout. In de mond is hij dicht en consistent, diep en vol van smaak met evenwichtige en rijpe tannines. Hij is perfect bij een rijke barbecue, geroosterd lamsvlees en wildstoofpotten.
