Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Vina von Siebenthal in de Aconcagua Vallei in Chili werd opgericht door de Zwitserse advocaat Mauro von Siebenthal. Mauro bezocht het gebied in de jaren 1990 en besefte onmiddellijk dat deze plek hem kon helpen zijn droom te verwezenlijken om zijn eigen wijnen te maken. Hij verhuisde permanent naar Chili in 2009 en stortte zich op de aanplant van wijngaarden op zijn nieuwe landgoed en de renovatie van het elegante koloniale landhuis dat het hoofdkantoor van de wijnmakerij is.

    Mauro's vlaggenschip wijn is de Montelig, een single vineyard botteling gemaakt van wijnstokken geplant in 1998. De wijn is genoemd naar het Spaanse woord voor berg, "monte", als verwijzing naar het Andesgebergte en "llg", het pre-Incaanse woord voor licht. Het is een krachtige, robuuste mix van Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot en Carmenere die goed gedijen in de lange hete zomers en koelere nachten dankzij de verkoelende bries uit het nabijgelegen Andesgebergte.

    Verleidelijke tonen van bosbessen, cassis, zwarte pruimen en donkere kersen bepalen de neus, terwijl in de mond hints van gedroogde kruiden, gebakken aarde en geroosterde specerijen te vinden zijn door de 25 maanden rijping in eikenhouten vaten. De afdronk is sterk met hints van vanille, kaneel en kruidnagel en een zachte zuurgraad die uitnodigt tot nog een slok. Geniet nu met stevige rode vleesgerechten of bewaar in de kelder voor nog ongeveer tien jaar.
