A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Sticht in 1870 door de familie Eguren en tegenwoordig geleid door Marcus Eguren, de vierde generatie van de familie, is Sierra Cantabria een van de belangrijkste wijnhuizen in Spanje. Het bedrijf, dat bestaat uit verschillende kelders en wijngaarden, heeft zijn hoofdkantoor in Rioja Alta en wel in de stad San Vicente de la Sonsierra. In de provincie Paganos, in Baskenland, produceert Sierra Cantabria wijnen met druiven van eigen wijngaarden en fruit van lokale producenten.

    De wijn wordt gemaakt van Tempranillo druiven van de 25 hectare grote Finca El Puntido wijngaard, gelegen op 600 meter boven zeeniveau op klei-kalkachtige grond, met planten die ongeveer 40 jaar oud zijn. Na de vinificatie rijpt de afgewerkte wijn 16 maanden in Franse eiken vaten.

    Vinedos de Paganos El Puntido heeft een intense kleur met kersenrode tinten en enkele granaat nuances. Het aromatische profiel is breed en geurig met tonen van rijp rood fruit en bloemen, gevolgd door minerale en chocolade hints. In de mond is hij rijk, evenwichtig en karaktervol met zachte tannines en een lange afdronk met fruitige en houtachtige tonen. Hij smaakt uitstekend bij lasagne Bolognese en lamskoteletjes.
