Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Initieel opgericht in Montelupo Albese door de oenoloog Beppe Viola in 1991, is de Ca' Viola wijnmakerij nu gevestigd in een prachtige 18e-eeuwse villa in Dogliani in de provincie Cuneo. Het bedrijf dat zich vandaag de dag uitstrekt over 14 hectare wijngaarden, verdeeld over Montelupo en Novello, produceert typische Langhe-wijnen van hoge kwaliteit - Dolcetto, Barbera en Barolo - met een filosofie die gebaseerd is op een paar ingrepen in de wijngaard en de kelder. De wijngaarden in Montelupo worden gekenmerkt door planten van meer dan 40 jaar oud, geplant op hellingen op een terrein dat lijkt op dat van Serralunga. De Novello wijngaard daarentegen, waar Nebbiolo druiven worden verbouwd, ligt op 470 meter hoogte in de kleine cru van Sottocastello.

    Na de gisting met inheemse gisten rust de wijn 24 maanden in grote vaten.

    De Barolo Caviot van het Ca Viola wijnhuis heeft een robijnrode kleur met granaatkleurige reflecties. Op de neus onthult de wijn een intens en breed aromatisch profiel met florale tonen van viooltjes en roos, typisch voor Nebbiolo, aroma's van rood fruit van het kreupelhout, en lichte balsamico tonen op de afdronk. In de mond is hij goed gestructureerd met fluweelzachte tannines en een goede balans. De afdronk is lang en aanhoudend. Perfect bij gebraad en wildstoofpotten.
