A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Chateau de Marsannay is een oud Bourgondisch landgoed, gelegen in het hart van de Côte de Nuits streek. Samen met het naburige Chateau de Meursault werd het in 2012 overgenomen door de familie Halley, die de overgang van het domein naar volledig biologische landbouw heeft begeleid.

    De belangrijkste wijnmaker op het kasteel is Sylvain Pabion, die de 34 hectare aan eersteklas wijngaard van het landgoed omvormt tot een reeks betoverende Bourgogne-wijnen. Het wijnhuis put uit verschillende Premier en Grand Crus in de Côte de Nuits, die topkwaliteit Chardonnay en Pinot Noir herbergen. De grootste en een van de oudste is Gevrey-Chambertin, de oorsprong van deze geweldige rode wijngaard.

    "Vieilles Vignes", wat "oude wijnstokken" betekent, is een elegante, geurige Pinot Noir met een scherpe neus van rood fruit en zoete specerijen. Het gehemelte is friszuur, met een uitstekende tannische structuur. U ontdekt smaken van rode kersen, wilde aardbeien en wrange explosies van bosbessen. Dit alles wordt ondersteund door aardse tonen van een herfstige bosgrond. Na enkele jaren rijping heeft de Vieilles Vignes het potentieel om enkele mooie tertiaire tonen te ontwikkelen, waaronder rijp fruit, zoethout en leer. Overweeg deze wijn te combineren met dicht vlees, zoals wild, een rijke steak of gegrilde eend.
