Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Met een geschiedenis die teruggaat tot de 11e eeuw is Chateau de Meursault een vaste waarde in het Bourgondische landschap, ouder dan veel van de bomen en wijngaarden die langs de velden staan. Tegenwoordig is het eigendom van Olivier Halley. Samen met manager Stephane Follin-Arbelet heeft hij de afgelopen 10 jaar toezicht gehouden op de overgang van het landgoed naar volledig biologische landbouw.

    Het kasteel ligt in het hart van de Meursault appellatie. Maar het domein bezit in totaal 65 hectare wijngaard, verspreid over de meest uitgelezen percelen van de Côte de Beaune. Deze Bourgogne Pinot Noir is een blend, samengesteld uit de vruchtbare wijngaarden van Savigny en de robuuste percelen van Pommard.

    Aromatische tonen van rijpe aardbei, framboos en pruim zweven uit de fles, ondersteund door subtiele tonen van bakkruid, peper en sering. Hoewel de vruchten afkomstig zijn van 3 verschillende percelen, werden ze allemaal verbouwd op steenachtige grond, op blootgestelde heuveltoppen. Met een hoog zuurgehalte toont deze wijn verbluffend frisse smaken in de mond, vol met tonen van rode bessen in pulp, vanille, laurier en hints van geroosterde noten. De tannines zijn fijn en goed gestructureerd, en hij verdient wat flesrijping. Combineer hem met gegrild vlees of een gerecht overgoten met een umami-jus.
