A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Domaine d'Ardhuy werd eind jaren 1940 opgericht door Gabriel Liogier d'Ardhuy en zijn vrouw Eliane. Het is een familiebedrijf in de Bourgogne dat zich uitstrekt over ongeveer 40 hectare wijngaarden, waaronder 125 percelen in zes grands crus en vijftien 1er crus, verspreid van Puligny-Montrachet tot Gevrey-Chambertin. Sinds 2016 wordt het wijnhuis geleid door wijnmaker Vincent Bottreau.

    De druiven voor de Bourgogne Chardonnay komen van percelen die voornamelijk in de Mâconnais in La Roche-Vineuse liggen. De wijnstokken, die gemiddeld 15 jaar oud zijn, rusten met hun wortels op gevarieerde bodems (klei-kalksteen, klei-slib en vuursteen). Deze verscheidenheid aan terroirs garandeert de productie van een evenwichtige en harmonieuze wijn. De gisting vindt plaats bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur in stalen tanks.

    De wijn onthult een heldere en briljante kleur met lichte gouden tinten. Het aromatische profiel is fris en geurig met tonen van citrus en groene appel, en hints van witte bloemen en acacia. In de mond is hij levendig en elegant, zacht en slank met toetsen van vers fruit en een evenwichtige zuurgraad. Hij is zacht en harmonieus en heeft een lange en verfrissende afdronk. Hij is uitstekend bij gevogelte en een aanrader bij slakken.
