Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Felton Road's Block 5 Pinot Noir is een gulle en veelzijdige wijn, uitsluitend gemaakt van wijngaarden die eigendom zijn van het domein. Hij begint met een diepe, gelaagde neus, met hints van leer, rozenblaadjes, kersen en een melange van kruiden. De Pinot Noir vruchten werden geoogst van The Elms Vineyard, in de Bannockburn subregio van Central Otago, Nieuw-Zeeland, waar Felton Road zijn thuisbasis heeft.

    De wijnmakers van Felton Road hanteren een minimale aanpak bij het maken van wijn, waarbij biologische en biodynamische methoden boven alles gaan. Dit komt tot uiting in het pure, ongeremde karakter van hun wijnen - het is duidelijk dat bij Felton Road de natuur altijd haar gang mag gaan.

    In de mond wacht u een rijke mond vol rode bessen, samen met bescheiden, tongstrelende tannines en een dosis heldere zuren. Elke slok brengt hints van winterse kruiden en troostende fruitcake. Hij is rijp voor een Pinot Noir, maar behoudt een uitstekende structuur met een staalzure ruggengraat. Er is cacao en subtiele hints van bloemen op de afdronk, die lang en bevredigend is. Vier jaar opslag in de kelder zal wat secundaire smaken vrijmaken, maar deze wijn kan nog veel langer bewaard worden. Hij heeft 17 maanden in eikenhouten vaten gelegen voordat hij werd vrijgegeven. Combineer deze Pinot Noir eens met een gebraden diner of een stoofpotje met vlees.
