A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Geïnspireerd door de droge Westerosi wijnen geproduceerd door House Redwyne in de Arbor, en de volbloed wijnen van Dorne, werd de House of the Dragon rode blend gemaakt met een combinatie van 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot, 8% Malbec, en 20% Zinfandel. Het is een verleidelijk donkerrood in het glas, met paarse tinten.

    Op de neus ruikt u veenbessen, cassis en donkere cacao. De druiven zijn afkomstig van de Lodi appellatie in Central Valley, Californië, en werden daarna 9 maanden gerijpt in Frans eikenhout. Elke fles wordt geleverd met een van de drie verschillende kurkontwerpen, waardoor dit een aantrekkelijke keuze is voor verzamelaars.

    Het gehemelte brengt rijke tonen van donkerrood fruit, cacao en koffie, uitgebalanceerd door zoete hints van esdoorn, toffee en karamel. Het omhult de mond met zachte tannines en lagen rode haagbessen. Hoewel deze wijn een plaats verdient in de eindeloze kelders van Casterly Rock, is hij ook gemaakt om onmiddellijk hedonistisch van te genieten, á la Robert Baratheon. Overweeg om deze wijn te combineren met wild zwijn, scherpe kaas en een seizoen Game of Thrones of House of the Dragon.
