A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Santa Lucia Noir vertegenwoordigt de ontmoeting tussen traditie en innovatie waarbij inheemse Kroatische druiven harmonieus samengaan met hun bekendere internationale neven. Samengesteld uit 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon en 20% Teran, toont deze gedurfde botteling van het familiebedrijf Kozlovic Winery het potentieel van Istrië om serieuze rode blends te produceren.

    Gianfranco en Antonella Kozlovic produceren hun Santa Lucia Noir alleen in de allerbeste jaren om een constante hoge kwaliteit in alle jaargangen te garanderen. Het perfectionistische echtpaar oogst ook alle druiven voor deze wijn met de hand en staat erop de wijn te laten rijpen in eiken vaten gedurende in totaal 18 maanden om complexiteit toe te voegen en een wijn te creëren die langer kan rijpen.

    Bij het openen van de fles valt meteen de dieprode tint op die kenmerkend is voor zowel Cabernet Sauvignon als Teran, samen met krachtige aroma's van wilde donkere bessen, leer en zoete kruiden. De eerste slok onthult een volle body met veel stevige tannines aangevuld met weelderige smaken van zwart fruit en wildachtige, aardse hints. Als u het kunt weerstaan, zal deze wijn de komende tien jaar prachtig blijven rijpen. Wie liever jongere wijnen drinkt, kan deze grote fles serveren bij een biefstuk of gebarbecued vlees om de robuuste smaken en tannines in balans te brengen.
