Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Opgericht door de grootvader van Thanasis Papaioannou, is Ktima Papaioannou gevestigd in het wijngebied Nemea. Het bedrijf dat ongeveer 57 hectare biologische wijngaarden bewerkt, wordt nu geleid door Thanasis' zoon George, die, net als zijn vader ooit, een productiefilosofie voortzet die verband houdt met inheemse wijnstokken en het belang van het terroir. Ktima Papaioannou produceert Agiorgitiko, Roditis en Assyrtiko, maar ook internationale wijnstokken zoals Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon en Petit Verdot.

    Ktima Papaioannou's Petit Verdot is een vrij zeldzame wijn voor de Griekse wijnwereld en komt uitsluitend van de biologische wijngaarden van het landgoed. Na een klassieke rode vinificatie wordt de wijn twee jaar gerijpt in eiken vaten en daarna nog een jaar in de fles, voordat hij op de markt wordt gebracht.

    De kleur is intens robijnrood. Het aromatische profiel is complex met delicate aroma's van rood fruit zoals kersen en frambozen, pruimen, bloemige tonen van viooltjes, kruidige aroma's en delicate nuances van chocolade. In de mond onthult de wijn een uitstekende structuur, een grote concentratie van rijp fruit en stevige tannines. Het is een intense en volumineuze wijn met een aanhoudende en licht kruidige afdronk. Perfect bij wildrago, in wijn gekookt konijn of gerijpte kazen.
