I buy from here from time to time as they have some favourite wines that it's difficult to source elsewhere. Acceptable prices and well packaged. My only reason for not giving five stars is that the delivery date never is the date given at check-out. Always a few days later. So take the delivery date with a pinch of salt.

Les Asteries is een Bordeaux-wijn met één wijngaard, geoogst van kalksteenrijke bodems tussen Chateau Fonroque en Clos Fourtet in het hart van Saint Emilion. Hij begint met een neus van bramen en zwarte bessen, met een rijke ondertoon van cacao, koffie, leer en pruimen. Het is een klassieke Saint Emilion blend, samengesteld uit 83% Merlot en 17% Cabernet Franc.

Les Asteries is een wijngaard van 1,2 hectare, met wijnstokken van wel tachtig jaar oud. In 2005 werd het aangekocht door Jonathan Maltus, een Engelse wijnmaker met een lappendeken van eersteklas wijngaarden in heel Saint Emilion - waaronder die achter Le Carre, Chateau Laforge en Chateau Teyssier. De laatste is waar de druiven van Les Asteries daadwerkelijk worden gefermenteerd, in 100% nieuwe Franse eiken vaten.

Deze zijdezachte blend raakt het gehemelte met een mengeling van zwart en rood fruit - zoek naar framboos en cassis tussen de aardse tonen van leer, koffie en koekkruiden. Hij heeft een middelmatig tot vol mondgevoel, met prachtige, ronde tannines en scherpe zuren. Het is ook een zeer veelzijdige wijn, geschikt om te combineren met een even rijpe kaas, mals vlees of een tomatenrijke bouillon.
