A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Ontstaan door de gebroeders Pasqua in Verona in 1925, is dit familiebedrijf nu in handen van de derde generatie. Ze exporteren hun heerlijke wijnen nu over de hele wereld, en zijn gespecialiseerd in het maken van traditionele lokale wijnen zoals Amarone della Valpolicella en Prosecco. De familie maakt ook meer moderne en innovatieve stijlen, zoals deze makkelijk drinkbare Primitivo, de Italiaanse naam voor Zinfandel.

    Het fruit voor deze pittige rode wijn komt uit Puglia en wordt met de hand geoogst en snel naar de wijnmakerij vervoerd om de kwaliteit te behouden. De druiven worden vervolgens gefermenteerd in temperatuurgecontroleerde tanks en rijpen vervolgens 6 maanden in houten vaten voordat ze worden gebotteld.

    De Italiaanse Primitivo kan wat strenger en tanninerijker zijn dan Zinfandel, maar deze zijdezachte versie combineert het beste van beide stijlen. Weelderige en verleidelijke cassis, bramen en donkere pruimen tonen barsten uit het glas, terwijl de eerste slok een royale volle body onthult, een fluweelachtige textuur en een krachtige afdronk met veel verleidelijke fruittonen. Heerlijk in combinatie met rijke rode vleesgerechten zoals gebarbecuede ribbetjes, een ribeye steak, of een stevige stoofpot van rundvlees of wild.
