    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Ontstaan in 1996 door Scott Greer, na een lange carrière in de financiële wereld, samen met zijn partners Pat en Lanie Dineen, is Sheridan Vineyard gelegen in de staat Washington, nabij de stad Zillah. Sinds 2000, toen de eerste wijn werd gebotteld, richt het bedrijf zich op duurzame landbouwpraktijken en de teelt van Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot en Syrah.

    L'Orage, hoofdzakelijk geproduceerd van Cabernet Sauvignon met toevoeging van 20% Cabernet Franc, en 28 maanden gerijpt in barriques, is de meest iconische en representatieve wijn van Sheridan Vineyard, waarvan de eerste oogst dateert uit 2000.

    Het is een uitzonderlijke wijn, die een intense robijnrode kleur toont met magenta nuances. In de neus onthult de wijn een beslissend en gelaagd aromatisch profiel met kruidig donkerrood fruit, vooral pruimen, bramen en zoete kaneel. In de mond is het fruit iets rijper dan het op de neus aanvoelt en worden florale tonen en licht exotische aroma's toegevoegd. De wijn is rijk, rond en vol met fijne tannines en een lange en aanhoudende afdronk die doet denken aan pure chocolade. Probeer hem eens bij gegrild rood vlees, brisket in Texaanse stijl of pittige varkensribbetjes. Maar vergeet niet om hem een uur te laten ademen om zijn parfums volledig vrij te maken.
