Mousserende wijnen

Mousserende wijnen worden overal ter wereld geproduceerd en zijn synoniem met feesten, festiviteiten en genieten van het goede leven. Ze zijn heerlijk als aperitief of in combinatie met alles van oesters, kreeft en romige kazen tot pittige Aziatische gerechten en salades. De meest bekende manier om mousserende wijn te maken is de traditionele methode die wordt gebruikt voor Champagne, Cava en Cremant. Hierbij vindt de tweede gisting plaats in de fles om de bubbels te creëren. Prosecco wordt gemaakt volgens de Charmat-methode, waarbij de tweede gisting plaatsvindt in een grote afgesloten tank.

Belangrijke Mousserende Wijn Regio's

Champagne in Noord-Frankrijk is de bekendste regio voor mousserende wijn. Op de tweede plaats komen de regio's Veneto en Fruili-Venezia Giulia in Noord-Italië, waar Prosecco vandaan komt. De beroemdste mousserende wijn van Spanje is Cava, die voornamelijk wordt gemaakt in de kleine regio Penedes in Catalonië. Andere belangrijke mousserende wijngebieden zijn de Franse Loirevallei, bekend om zijn Cremant, en delen van Californië, Australië en Nieuw-Zeeland.

Mousserende wijn Druivenrassen

De beroemdste mousserende wijn is Champagne, die meestal wordt gemaakt van de druiven Chardonnay, Pinot Noir of Pinot Meunier. Prosecco wordt gemaakt van de Glera druif uit Italië, terwijl Cava traditioneel wordt gemaakt van de lokale Xarello, Parellada en Macabeo druiven. Er zijn ook mousserende roséwijnen en mousserende rode wijnen die worden gemaakt van zwarte druivenrassen. In Australië wordt bijvoorbeeld de Shiraz-druif gebruikt om krachtige mousserende rode wijnen te maken en in Frankrijk worden Cabernet Franc en Grenache vaak gebruikt om mousserende roséwijnen te maken.
