Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Opgericht in 1858 door Edward Tyrrell, is Tyrrell's een familiebedrijf in de Hunter Valley. Het bedrijf, een van de meest prestigieuze in heel Australië, wordt nu geleid door Bruce Tyrrell en zijn zoon Chris. Tyrrell's produceert enkele van de beroemdste Australische wijnen ter wereld, met een onderscheidend, hoogwaardig rassenkarakter en een persoonlijkheid die het beste van tradities uit de oude wereld mengt met de uitbundigheid van wijnen uit de nieuwe wereld.

    De Shiraz druiven komen van de Old Hillside Vineyard aan Marrowbone Road, Pokolbin, die in december 2017 door de familie Tyrrell is aangekocht. Deze wijngaard omvat de 'Old Patch', oorspronkelijk geplant in 1867, waar de jongere wijnstokken, geplant als vervanging door de jaren heen, een gemiddelde leeftijd hebben van 50 jaar.

    Deze wijn, die intensiteit en grote frisheid combineert, doet denken aan de elegantie en kracht van Noord-Rhône Syrah. Tyrrell's Old Hillside Shiraz is geurig en verfijnd met aroma's van kersen en bessen, afgewisseld met tonen van kruiden, rabarber, zoethout en zeer goed geïntegreerd eikenhout. In de mond is hij intens geconcentreerd, goed in balans en met een gemiddelde body. De afdronk is lang en fris. Hij is perfect bij sappige gegrilde steaks, bij enkele medium-pittige gerechten uit de etnische keuken en bij kaas.
