Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Gelegen in het hart van de beroemde Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellatie, in de zuidelijke Rhônevallei, werd het landgoed Usseglio Raymond & Fils opgericht door Francis Usseglio, die zich hier in 1931 vanuit Italië vestigde en in 1948 wijn begon te maken. Vandaag de dag wordt het landgoed, dat zich uitstrekt over 24 hectare wijngaarden (waarvan 19 in de AOC Châteauneuf du Pape rouge en blanc en 5 in het Côtes-du-Rhône gebied) beheerd volgens biodynamische principes, geleid door Stephane, de derde generatie van de familie.

    De wijn wordt geproduceerd met 100% Roussanne druiven afkomstig van een mix van wijngaarden op het noorden op zandgronden en andere op het zuiden op kleiachtige bodems. De oogst is handmatig en de vinificatie vindt plaats volgens de Bourgondische traditie in eikenhouten vaten, waar de wijn vervolgens een paar maanden rijpt op de gisten.

    Chateauneuf Du Pape Blanc Pure Roussanne is een wijn met een gouden heldere kleur en een intens en elegant aromatisch profiel. De neus onthult tonen van steenfruit (vooral perzik) en gekonfijte citrusvruchten, witte bloemen en enkele delicate hints van brioche en exotisch fruit. In de mond is hij rijk en rond, fruitig en harmonieus. Hij heeft een goed uitgebalanceerde zuurgraad en een goede mineraliteit. De afdronk is lang en doet denken aan aroma's van aromatische kruiden en witte bloemen. Uitstekend bij zeebaars, parmezaanse risotto en ook bij gerechten met witte truffel.
