    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Duckhorn is het hoogtepunt van veertig jaar wijnmaken en leidinggeven door Dan en Margaret Duckhorn die verliefd werden op Napa Valley, toen op Merlot, en de vinificatietechnieken bestudeerden in Frankrijk en daarbuiten. Hun eerste release was in 1978. TSG Consumer Partners werd in 2016 eigenaar van het bedrijf, maar de Duckhorns zijn nog steeds zeer betrokken.

    Deze jaargang markeert de tienjarige verjaardag van The Discussion, een wijn die de expressieve diversiteit van Napa Valley wil benadrukken die wordt tentoongesteld via het landgoedwijngaardprogramma van Duckhorn. Deze blend blijft trouw aan de toewijding van het merk aan Cabernet Sauvignon en Merlot en bestaat respectievelijk voor 55% en 43% uit Cabernet Franc en Petit Verdot.

    Het bijna perfecte groeiseizoen levert een sappige wijn op in de neus - zwarte kersen en wilde bosbessen - en nog steeds helder in de mond. Hartige accenten van bitterzoete chocolade en kardemom worden gevolgd door kruidige noten als gevolg van 18 maanden in nieuw Frans eikenhout. Met een goede structuur draagt The Discussion zowel intensiteit als gratie.
