    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    De Gorizia heuvels in Slovenië liggen net over de grens met Friuli in Italië en bieden uitzonderlijke wijnbouwomstandigheden dankzij het warme mediterrane klimaat en de nabijheid van de Alpen. Edi Simcic stichtte zijn wijnmakerij in het dorp Vipolže in 1990 en vandaag de dag heeft het landgoed 30 hectare eersteklas wijngaarden op de zacht glooiende heuvels rond het dorp. Naast Edi werkt zijn zoon Aleks, die helpt bij het creëren van de heerlijke ambachtelijke wijnen die tot de beste van Slovenië behoren.

    Hun Ribolla Gialla, of Rebula zoals hij in Slovenië wordt genoemd, is Edi's poging om de wereld te laten zien dat deze bescheiden druivensoort kan worden gebruikt om heerlijke en complexe wijnen te maken. Deze wijn wordt gewoonlijk gebruikt voor alledaagse wijnen, maar is gemaakt van de allerbeste druiven, met de hand geselecteerd uit 25-35 jaar oude wijnstokken. De jonge wijn wordt 12 maanden gerijpt in gebruikte en nieuwe eiken vaten, gevolgd door nog eens 6 maanden in de fles om een rijke, goed afgeronde witte wijn te maken met een goed bewaarpotentieel.

    Op de neus zijn er intense tonen van perzik, lychees en ander tropisch fruit, terwijl de eerste slok een medium body, soepele textuur en hints van steenachtige mineraliteit onthult, gebalanceerd door een verfrissende zuurgraad. Een geweldige wijn om te combineren met romige vis- of kipgerechten, kazen en risotto's.
