    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Drink hem nu of bewaar hem tot 15 jaar in een kelder. Het wordt aanbevolen om de wijn een uur te decanteren.

    Gelegen in Radda, in het hart van de Chianti heuvels, op 425 meter boven zeeniveau, werd Montevertine in 1967 gekocht door de industrieel Sergio Manetti, aanvankelijk als vakantiehuis. Hier plantte Manetti twee hectare wijngaard om wijn te produceren voor zichzelf en zijn vrienden. Maar na het succes van zijn eerste oogst besloot hij te investeren in nieuwe wijngaarden en kelders en zich te richten op de wijnproductie. Het bedrijf wordt tegenwoordig geleid door Sergio's zoon, Martino Manetti met de medewerking van Bruno Bini en Giulio Gambelli.

    De wijn wordt gemaakt van Sangiovese druiven met kleine toevoegingen van Canaiolo en Colorino. De druiven zijn afkomstig van jonge wijngaarden op hoogtes tussen de 400 en 600 meter, geplant op samengestelde bodems van klei, zand, slib, mergel en kalksteen. Na de gisting in betonnen tanks rijpt de afgewerkte wijn een jaar in Slavonische eiken vaten en vervolgens in beton en op fles gedurende minstens drie maanden.

    Montevertine Pian del Ciampolo heeft een levendige en briljante kleur met robijnrode tinten. In de neus onthult de wijn een breed bouquet met fruitige aroma's van wilde aardbei en kers, gevolgd door florale en kruidige hints en wat kruidige nuances. In de mond is hij fris en levendig, vol en smakelijk. De tannines zijn dicht en goed geïntegreerd. De afdronk is lang en doet denken aan fruitige tonen. Het is de perfecte wijn bij pasta met ragu.
