A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    De familie Ratti is een pionier in de Barolo regio sinds Renato Ratti in de jaren 1960 terugkeerde naar zijn geboorteland Italië na een tijd in Brazilië te hebben gewerkt en besloot zijn droom na te jagen om zijn eigen wijnen te maken. Naast hun gewilde Barolo wijnen gemaakt in de beroemde cru van La Morra, maakt de familie Ratti ook andere typische lokale wijnen, zoals deze prachtige Barbera d'Alba gemaakt met fruit van de gewaardeerde La Morra wijngaarden van de familie.

    De Barbera druiven die hier groeien zijn perfect geschikt voor de zandgronden en produceren een gulle, volle rode wijn met fijne tannines en een stevige structuur, waardoor de wijn een ideale partner is voor rood vlees, pastagerechten op basis van tomaten, en zelfs een vers gemaakte pizza. In de mond is er een intens karakter van rood fruit dat wordt aangevuld met een heldere zuurgraad en een lange, schone afdronk.

    Deze Barbera wijn van één soort wordt gemaakt door de druivenmost met de schillen slechts 7 dagen te laten weken om frisheid en elegantie in de afgewerkte wijn te behouden. Wanneer het gistingsproces is voltooid, wordt de wijn gerijpt in eiken vaten voor ongeveer een jaar om te rijpen en zachter te worden.

    Deze single varietal Barbera wijn wordt gemaakt door maceratie van de druivenmost met de schillen gedurende slechts 7 dagen om frisheid en elegantie in de afgewerkte wijn te behouden. Na de gisting rijpt de wijn ongeveer een jaar in eikenhouten vaten om te rijpen en zachter te worden. Dit is een gulle, volle rode wijn met fijne tannines en een stevige structuur die de wijn een ideale partner maakt voor rood vlees, pastagerechten op basis van tomaten en zelfs een vers bereide pizza. In de mond is er een intens karakter van rood fruit dat wordt aangevuld met een heldere zuurgraad en een lange, zuivere afdronk.
