    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Rockford wijnmakerij werd opgericht in de vroege jaren 1980 door Robert O'Callaghan, net buiten Krondorf dorp in de Barossa Range. De wijnmakerij zelf is een schilderachtige verzameling van stenen gebouwen, die dateren uit de vroege dagen van de nederzetting in Krondorf. In de geest van het ouderwetse hoofdkantoor heeft Rockford nooit echt gemoderniseerd. De mensen van het wijnhuis geven de voorkeur aan traditionele wijnbereidingsmethoden om hun hoogwaardige assortiment heerlijke rode wijnen te creëren.

    Shiraz/Syrah en Cabernet Sauvignon zijn de hoofdrolspelers bij Rockford. Het wijnhuis werkt samen met kleine, onafhankelijke telers in de Barossa regio, waardoor ze toegang hebben tot een grote verscheidenheid aan microklimaten, en te zijner tijd een aantal unieke expressies van de favoriete druiven van Zuid-Australië.

    Rockfords Rifle Range Cabernet Sauvignon barst van de aroma's van rode bessen, zoethout, bittere chocolade en hints van rook. De vruchten zijn afkomstig van wijngaarden langs Rifle Range Road, direct achter Rockfords wijnmakerij. De bodem bestaat hier uit zware, donkere klei, waardoor de Cabernet Sauvignon een gedurfd en aards profiel krijgt. Het gehemelte vertoont een sterke, gespannen zuurgraad, met smaken van zwarte bessen, donkere pruimen, kruiden en een stevige portie eikenhout. Hij is nu zeer aangenaam, maar heeft ook wat meer kelderpotentieel. Combineer hem met eenvoudige wildvleesgerechten, of kazen als gorgonzola en parmezaan.
